I'm in the process of buying a 97 F350 5sp 4wd with a 460 gas motor to replace my 93 F250 5sp 4wd 7.3 ( frame is getting rusty). Will my 7.3 match up to the bellhousing on the F350 or do I have to take the trans and transfer from the 93 along with the diesel?
It will be a couple weeks until I pick up the new truck so I can't even crawl under it and look.
Here's the deal. The truck is a propane powered 460 with 169 thousand on itand it runs good. My buddy says I should just convert it back to gas and sell my 93. But when I look at all those sensors and wires I get a giant HEADACHE! What I really want is a truck with no computers or sensors. Maybe I should just put a carb on it. I could buy a lot of gas for what it would cost to put the 7.3 in it.
some one makes an adapter plate to bolt a carb onto the efi intake. and you cant just switch to a carb intake heads are different. or you can just make an adapter. i would just keep running propane though.
my 7.3 literally gets double mpg then my 460 so that is something to think about.
