I bought this truck a couple of months ago and it ran good untill about 2 weeks ago, now its sounds like its knocking really bad and wont run that well like its missing. a guy a work said that if it was missing it would run like that but would it be knocking too maybe because its dumping raw fuel in the the motor i dont know? and would more then 1 coil pack go bad all at one time?
I think the answer is it depends.... has any work or repairs been done to the truck? Has the engine gotten wet? Is your oil level correct? Any warning lights on?
More than 1 coil can always go bad - it's unlikely but it is possible. The reason I ask if any repair work has been done is maybe something was left disconnected or knocked off by accident. If the engine has gotten wet or has been cleaned than water could be in one or more harnesses/connectors and may be causing the problem. If the engine is running bad enough then most likely a check engine condition exists - the light should be on - but I would hook a scanner up anyway.
Check the spark plugs to make sure they are all in place and torqued down correctly. The v10's can spit plugs if they are installed incorrectly and could also cause the problem. Give us some more information if you can and we'll see what we come up with. Hope this at least gives you a start.
