I have a 2000 E350 with a 5.4L and auto tranny. I know it isn't an F-series but I am sure they have the same drive train. Anyway I bought it at an auction and haven't even seen it yet. They said that it doesn't go into reverse. Wondering if anyone has any ideas of where to start looking when I pick it up. Hoping that it is something simple or electrical. Also what tranny is in there and what other vehicles was it in, in the event that I need to look around for a different tranny to put in there.

Thanks
Most likely you have a E40D tranny. First thing to do is see if when you put the shifter to 1 not Drive it moves. If not the planitary gear is probubly gone and needs rebuilt or replace. If moves then have scanned. Could be electronic. Those are pretty tough tranny's.
Thanks all. I will start looking for a used tranny. I bought this to flip it so there is no expensive rebuild in the cards. I think the fuel pump is shot too. It will start with started fluid but not on its own. Checked the shut off switch and it is good.
Can anyone point me to a list of what vehicles had this transmission? I am sure a F-truck or expedition of the same time would have it but what about cars? Explorer with V-8? Will be looking for a used tranny just wondering what I can look in. Thanks for the help
