Transmission has no reverse

I have a 2000 E350 with a 5.4L and auto tranny. I know it isn't an F-series but I am sure they have the same drive train. Anyway I bought it at an auction and haven't even seen it yet. They said that it doesn't go into reverse. Wondering if anyone has any ideas of where to start looking when I pick it up. Hoping that it is something simple or electrical. Also what tranny is in there and what other vehicles was it in, in the event that I need to look around for a different tranny to put in there.

Looking at the online salvage yard they list the transmission as a 4R100

my f250 woild do it now and then . ended up being the torque converter.complete rebuid of the tranny.

lookin around 2k average for a trans rebuild ill bet!

It's a 4R100. 1998 was the last year for the E4OD.

There is nothing electronic that can prevent reverse engagement. It has to be something mechanical.

Thanks all. I will start looking for a used tranny. I bought this to flip it so there is no expensive rebuild in the cards. I think the fuel pump is shot too. It will start with started fluid but not on its own. Checked the shut off switch and it is good.
