I currently have a e4od in my 90 4x4 f250 7.3, and i'm having the ususally problems, some slippage once in awhile, and shifting up and down, i had faullty tach sensor and replaced that tonight,it seems better got rid of the harsh and hard shifts, but still isn't right, the truck has sat for some time and drove much in the past 5 years, replace tranny filter and fluid last winter and maybe put on 30 miles, i checked the filter last night to see if it fell off and it was still on, so i'm lost on where to look now, goes right into gear and right into reverse, so i'm looking for some advice!! thanks
it is a factory rebuild with roughly 65000 miles on it, brake lights work, when you running at highway speed it it will rev up like it came out gear but didn't, i think it kinda slips between 2nd and 3rd, and between 3rd and 4th, slips pretty much only under heavy throttle and load,
So the RPMs go up by about 300-400 RPM? or is it a complete loss of drive?
Was the cooler replaced when the transmission was overhauled? Did they install an inline filter on the return line from the cooler (required)? If so, you might want to try replacing that filter.
Good advice on getting any stored codes. It could be a bad range sensor or bad connections to it. If so it would show up in the codes. However you could try cleaning the plug connectors to it.
okay i bought a scanner and scanned it tonight and got some codes,i got 10,11 and 22,23 i see that it say the tp sensor is out of range, how do i fix that and where is that on ip? thanks!
First, did you hold it to the full power position. If not, then you will get a false fault code.
Next, test the voltage. You want 0.8-1.2V at idle and 3.8-4.5 at WOT.
Ideal is 1V idle and 4V WOT, but some trucks like different settings.
Next, test how smoothly the voltage changes as you work the throttle. This is best done with an analog meter if you have one. Its easier to see how smooth the signal ramp is than on a digital (but digital will still work).
Code 22 is barometric sensor (altitude sensor). I think its located on the climate control air box under the hood near the AC drier.
