Weird?

I have been having a weird problem lately when my truck gets to a certain temp it will run real funny till it gets past that temp then it is ok usually starts around 160* and goes away at 180* I also have a mechanical oil gauge plumbed in at the HPOP and can see the needle fluctuate when all this is going on.

I had similar issues last winter and had the truck scanned everything checked out since then I have changed injector O rings, changed turbo ,fuel pump, cps
just changed oil and filters last weekend It runs awsome just not at this one temp.

Thanks

Sounds like maybe an IPR problem. Maybe orings, or check the tin nut to see if it's loose. Just thinking out loud, don't whip my azz.

LMAO! kinda weird how it would only do this at that one certain temp once it hits 200* It runs beautiful.

Thanks I will check the nut after work tomorrow I am going to maybe get another scan too my thoughts were maybe a bad sensor like EOT.

Hey Joe ,by funny I mean it Idles all weird like up and down and my oil pressure gauge(which is mechanical plumbed in the top of the HPOP res where the original sensor was) jumps up and down after the engine gets to about 180* it goes away

try unplugging the icp sensor next time you do a cold start, see if it does it then

Well checked the nut on the IPR it is tight also unplugged my ICP this morning before I started it up it started good felt like it idled stronger and didn,t smoke half as much on start up I tried driving to work but got to the end of the block and had to plug it back in because the tranny was shifting way too hard when I got home it was at that temp 160* and was running funny again so I unplugged the ICP and the truck seemed to idle better so maybe this is the problem.

Thanks, much appreciated

I believe that hard shift is the torque converter staying locked when ICP defaults. Anyone now why it does that?

What do you mean by bias Joe? I think I am going to get a new ICP sensor and see if it helps .

Are all 7.3 ICP sensors the same?

i think the sensors have been replaced to one common one now. there used to be a difference in the housing. by bias it means the sensor is giving false info. might have a dead spot in it. definatly weird how it only seems to do it at one temperature. might want to try unplugging the eot sensor before you buy an icp sensor. if the eot has a dead spot the injector timing could get thrown off until the oil heats up past the bad point

all 7.3 ICP sensors are the same IIRC, at 170 a pop... i got a discount, yay towing! 130$ later and a fixed pigtail.. i broke mine off cleaning the FPR but the new icp is an updated one to prevent leaking and shorting out, and an EOT sensor is dicontinued and ford does not sell it, you have to get it threw Greensalescompany dot com, they specialize in discontinued parts, and its only a 14$ part shipped! there great and fast
