Dually Swap?

I have a '91 F250. Whats the difference between my rear axle & the one from the dually rear axle from the same year? Can the 250 axle be converted to a dually?

Hah, ya want that truck to corner like it's on rails, but don't wanna pay the insurance and registration for a 1-ton, right? Well my friend, you are on the right track - a dually swap is very easy, all you need is a complete dually axle. The reason for that is the big offset of the dually wheels, if you try to bolt them up to your current axle they will hit the spring packs - the dually axle is 4" wider to accommodate for that. There are some spacer kits out there that also help you go around that issue, but if you use them you will be moving the load on your rear hubs more towards the outer bearings, which will wear them out faster. So find yourself a cheap complete dually axle with wheels and bolt that in place of your factory axle. Then for the front you can just pull your rotors and bolt up the dually hubs and rotors in their place, so you can run the dually wheels on thefront axle too and you won't have to carry two different spares.

The actual axles are different. The dually axles are 4" wider (overall) than the SRW axles.
My truck was a dually when I bought it and I put a SRW axle in to convert it. Easy swap, everything bolts in.

They make dually adapters but they won't be as strong... if it's 2wd you just need to swap the front hub/rotor assembly to a dually one from the same year as yours.
