The stock cooler on our trucks are actually very small. Here are pics of both the IC and trans cooler.

I'd like to do the intercooler swap eventually on mine. Isn't there a hose size difference between the 7.3 intercooler and 6.0 intercooler?

Yes -- on mine, I needed one tapered boot, and one straight. On the stocker, they're both tapered.

The line on the passenger side of the trans cooler is replaced completely. You clamp a new 3/8ths line between the adapter you attached to the bottom of that side of the cooler and the steel line going to the trans. For the driver's side, you cut the steel line after the bend, turn 180 degrees and attach the short piece of 3/8ths between there & the cooler on that side.

It's harder to explain than to do, I think. You leave the steel line on the passenger side of the radiator intact. So the flow goes from the trans, to the radiator, to the new cooler, back to the steel line returning to the trans...

Do you have a cooler in the radiator? If not I think I figured it would be better to replace the lines from where the steel lines end.I haven't installed mine yet

I don't even know right now. Its been raining here for over 24 hours now and it probably wont stop til tomorrow sometime. When I get a chance I can look at everything a lot closer and see what exactly I have on my hands and get my bearings on which line is which.

My turn for a question!!!! Better late than never

When you replace the I/C & Trans cooler, your replacing the radiator as well? or is it seperate than that and you keep your stock 7.3 radiator

Quick question, if I wanted to change out the ic/ trans cooler where do I get tapered boots for the ic to fit the 7.3? I can make the fittings for the trans that's isn't a problem. Thanks

Give Clay a call, he has the reducer boots you'll need for the 6.0 intercooler swap.
