Re-building C6, Tailshaft binding??

So I'm in the middle of my first automatic re-build, everything is going smooth till I tried to install the snap ring on the inner side of the tailshaft. everytime I install it the shaft binds up, i can only get a quarter turn out of it. when the snap ring is off, everything turns with ease. The only part in this area that I have changed from stock is the one way clutch but that doesn't appear to have anything to do with thrust clearance.

Any ideas?? maybe i need a thinner ring or thrust washer??

Make sure the thrust washer on the case to park gear is installed correctly and make sure the bolts that hold the inner low sprag race to the case are all down and tight.

Did you install and new inner sprag race?, they come in different heights, check it against the old one.

Check the parking pawl return spring is not under the governor support.

As embarrasing as it may be, i'll lay it out in hopes that it will save someone else the trouble. You can't cheat the spring compressor tool!

Tried to put the piston return springs and snap ring on with the inner race bolts, ended up with a slightly crooked inner race. seemed straight when I put on the one-way clutch, but once the planetary ring gear and snap ring was installed, everything was tight.

rookie mistake, no two ways about it. I just hope that helps someone.
