Here is the link Edelbrock 2106 - Edelbrock Performer-Plus Cam and Lifter Kits - Overview - SummitRacing.com
I am going to put a new cam and lifters in my truck. It has a basically stock 390 in it except for headers and an edelbrock performer rpm intake and 600 holley. The cam in it is wore out so I am going to replace it and would like something better than stock. I rarely go over 4000 rpm so this cam seems perfect. I just wanted to get some opinions before I buy it
Almost afraid to ask a question anymore but here goes. I have been studying cams and would like to know the thoughts behind the comment just because I want to know.
It seems to me after looking into it that cam failure in FE's is rare except at start up.

I've seen a cam lobe get wiped, usually from lack of oil, but I've never seen one "wear out", which implies that something entirely different. A wiped lobe will kill the cylinder it is on making the engine run very poorly, but wear out means, at least to me, that the engine is running OK but is down on power. Sound more like a ring issue causing lack of compression than a cam issue.

Yes, the attitude all around has to GO. Too many newbies getting picked on for asking/saying the wrong thing, and it's not conducive to people getting real HELP for their issues.

I'm ready to move on. I don't like leaving accounts un resolved. Never said I had an issue with anything. I work in a rough environment, I came here to relax. It just isn't happening for me.
Thanks

Well, we can try to change that
As for your account, leave it here. That way we don't get another "Kennewick" and people mistake them for you.
Cams wear out over time like any other component. The angle gound into the lobe is only +/- 3 degrees as measured on an Adcole tester - about .0010-.0012 across the lobe by indicator. Once the cam lobe is flat it'll go away pretty quickly - but not usually as dramatically as the break-in lifter type failure since the surface is burnished.
