26, but I just started "trying" to be a mechanic on my own. It's been interesting so far!
You know what would be nice? If there was some kind of mentor arrangement whereas those of us who are trying to learn could get help from people who have been doing this awhile. The newbie gets the wisdom of the experienced, and the experienced get to help a truck through to completion without buying parts, tools, and maybe inheriting some beer along the way . Not to mention that if the truck goes up in smoke, it's not his... I would sorta be up for this, but I also don't have a full garage so I can't do some of the more time-consuming stuff I want to do anyway (apartments don't like disassembled autos in their parkings spaces)
21 and one of the few girls I've seen on here! 22 in January. I like ur idea about the whole work on trucks thing but around my area, I'm afraid it wouldn't work. I'm kinda out here by myself it seems. They didn't nickname my town "Leveldirt" for nothin' ya know.

I've been around that part of Tx a coupla times. I was a band geek in HS an we went to state marching contest in Mesquite, marched in the Tx stadium, and flew valujet outta DFW to Atlanta and then Atlanta to Orlando exactly one week to the day before they crashed on the same exchange. Talk about scarin' ya to death... Our director told us that it was the same pilot he had on his flight (we were split in groups of two) and that he doesn't know but it could have been the same machine any of us was on. Freaky huh... I've been all over Tx with my band. Spent a week in San Antonio with basically no supervision and about $400.00 in my pocket. (The only time I've seen that kind of money and been able to spend it on ANYTHING I wanted to... bless the band boosters!) New Braunfels 2x's, San Antonio once, Dallas a coupla times, Austin a coupla times...
Thanx!

79f150TX may be too young, but i'm not... (just kidding)
I know scared from flying. I was scheduled to take a business trip up to our N.Y. headquarters on Monday the 10th and fly back on the 11th
In Sept, 2001.
The trip was cancelled because the project was delayed. I had never been so happy to be manipulated by corporate politics in my life. A friend of mine suggested taking the tickets around to the Houston bars and trying to get free drinks. I think I tried it once to no success (felt like I was trying to take advantage of the situation, didn't try again).
Being on the road constantly is something that some people love and others hate. I'm glad you seem to be having fun at it. I had a year long assignment that required me to fly about 1500 mi every week for that year, and I truly began to hate it. On the other hand, it taught me that there are some things I shouldn't never agree to in a job, no matter how good everything else looks .
No you may not be too young for me but, I'm afraid you're probably just too far away... (j/k) Gotta love Tx people. I don't find this kind of jokin' with each other anywhere else. Hey, I got pics of my truck up ya'll. Check them out and let me know what ya think!
Thanx!

Dang, Your lucky you live so far away from me too. A girl drivin a truck like that! If I ever saw that I just might be tempted to sweep ya off your feet!:+
I'm 29. My first Ford beat me to this world by 5 years. Wish I had it back. My folks got rid of it while I was in college. Amazing how sneaky they can be.
Yeah parnets don't understand much. My Dad berated me pretty good for buying my truck in the first place. "Waste of Money". He went ape when he found out I had put more money into it than I had spent on it.
I wonder when he'll figure out I'd like to drive it more than my 01 Camaro.
(Well, cept for highway trips... I expect i'll get more sheet in 7-12 years when I have a working truck and are sinking money into "some kinda muscle car")
Autos are nice, but they feel so much better when you have some personal victories mixed in with them.
Ok, my stupid computer's given me trouble... I think KazAa is slowing me down too much but who knows. Thanks a lot about my truck. It's good to hear from someone else that likes it as much as I do. The only Ford guys around here don't like it if it isn't new off the factory floor two days ago. And as for sweeping me off my feet... too bad you live soo far away...LOL
Thanx!
