What did you replace you factory shocks with? I have a 99 F350 with no lift. Truck has 169K miles.
If you haven't replaced your factory shocks in 169k miles , it doesn't matter what you replace them with. ANYTHING will give you such a better ride you'll kick yourself for not doing this 100k ago.
If you go to shock warehouse, remember there's a code for a 5% discount for FTE members.
I can tell you what not to use. Thats Monroe gas magnums. I tried them under the recommendation of another psd owner. These shocks are terrible, I replaced the front ones after 7k miles. I'm going to buy bilsteins from auto zone next time. That way I have an over the counter warranty.
I have never replaced shocks myself. Is there much too it? Any special tools needed? Any picture how-to threads?
Thanks
Nothing to it at all. Jack up one wheel at a time and do it that way. Just loosen bolts at bottom and top, remove shock and stick the new one in. do not cut restraining strap on new shock until new unit is in place. it's that simple.

2wd or 4 x 4? Either way, it's basically just a nut on top and a nut on the bottom. Remove the nuts and pull the shock. When crawling under the truck, put on a pair of safety glasses so the dirt and crud you knock loose don't fall into your eyes.
A trick I will use is to take one of those small ratchet straps and put it around the shock. Crank on the ratchet until the shock is the correct length so you can push it on the mounting stubs.
I'm sure you can do this. If you get stuck along the way, we'll be here to help you out.
You can muscle the shocks on by hand, alone. I recently and finally put the yellow ones on the rear. I did not know it but they (stock units) were shot at 66k. Yeah, that is right, 66k. I suspected it but did not know for sure. Leaking and I could not see it until I removed them. I will post those pics someday when I get around to it.
Just muscle them on. I installed Bilsteins all around by myself. The fronts are harder to do than the rears.
That POS nut design Ford uses on the bottom of the front shocks cost over $22. I found out the driver's side was broken when trying to uninstall the junk that was on there.
I just checked and auto zone sells bilsteins for the same price as shockwarehouse and you get an over the counter warranty.
Edit: AZ is 75.99 SW is 68.14 It would still be worth it to me just to swap them over the counter.
