Is it my imagination?

Just got a fiberglass tonneau cover for my 1999 F350. It's a used Leer. Seems like the truck is so much quieter going down the road, didn't expect that. Doing several trips from Iowa to Utah over the next couple months and wanted some cover for things thrown in the back. Have also thought that it would affect the fuel milage in a positive way. Anyone else noticed this?

I never noticed a sound difference with a cover. However, highway fuel mileage improved on average by .5 mpg's.

I had a cover on mine a few years before I put the topper on and never notice any difference other than the stuff in the back didn't get wet and it was a pain in my rear

Not sure on the local around town mileage gain but when I'm towing long distance, it really makes a difference in airodinamics, I'll say 1 mpg better, alot of drag without that cap.

I think it's true, the truck runs down the road much more quietly. Don't have to turn the radio up as much and talking on the cell phone is much easier. Fuel mileage seems to have increased overall with the cover. That was until my last trip. Seems that everyone has gone to the winter mix of fuel. Have had a mpg decrease from two weeks ago. Was the worst with a Sapp Bros fuel purchase in central Nebraska, lost 50 miles on that tankful. Will bypass them on the way back. It's also nice to be able to put stuff in the back and really not have to worry about it. Doesn't get wet. No one can see whats back there and the bed doesn't fill up with leaves, and stuff. Best $300 I have spent in a while. Now I just need to figure out how to hook up the 5th wheel through it.
