I probably already know the answer to this; but here goes anyway.
I want to upgrade my 1990 F150 fuel injection "controls" to the 1996 fuel injection "controls".
I bought the 96 computer and went to install it and realized I will have to change out the engine compartment wiring harness in order to plug the 96 computer into it.
My question is: Can I just swap the EPROMs out in the computers or do I have to buy the wiring harness?
thanks,
ct

Sell the 96 computer. You are in way over your head and you don't know what you are getting yourself into.

Ford EEC computers do not have eproms so no you can't swap them out. Besides that the '96 is OBD-2 with a 104 pin connector and your '90 is OBD-1 with a 60 pin connector, so there are a lot more wires and sensors attached to the '96 that your motor doesn't even have. Even if you got a '96 harness there's no place to install all the extra sensors, so listen to the other guys and start over with an OBD-1 MAF computer and wiring harness.
