Radius Arm Bracket

What is the best way to get the rivits out of the radius arms? I'm lifting my 86 F-150 and have ground all of them down, but I don't know what is the best course of action to get the brackets off.

I used an air hammer to pop em out for my shackle flip. You can prob get one on the cheap at homey de pot or similar, or check online for cheapy one if you don't plan on using it much.

I've heard a punch of some sort and a big hammer can work too, but sounds like a PITA to me.

I use a small 3 lb sledge. Once the heads of the rivets are ground flush, a couple good whacks will knock the brackets off, then you can pound the rivet through the frame. Its easy really.

I grind the heads all the way down till I can see the imprint of the rivit. Then a couple blows with a heavy hammer and crappy 3/8 extension will drive them thru. Not nearly as bad as most say.

I finally got mad with it and took the biggest sledge I had and hit it from the back and it came right off.
Thanks

Before I grind the heads, I center punch the rivet and drill a 1/8" hole down the middle. Then grind the head down, drill a 1/4" hole clean through again, which lessens the tension, and they pop right out.

More work then I ever put into it. I might try that if I wasn't having luck. But usually griding them and punching them out works well.

Good idea though. I'll try it when i'm pulling my F-350 suspension.
