So to make a long story short truck(90 f150 4.9 e4od 4x4) got new transmissione, ran for 2 years shifting fine, set for 2 years, got new motor, began shifting hard into reverse, about 6 months later busted yoke in driveshaft.
I have read about the transmission shifting hard but busting a driveshafts yoke through ujoint caps and all hasn't been mentioned. What else do I need to look for. I read about case warp, and valve body problems but am not a transmission wise. If I have a diagram I can take anything apart and rebuild it but I haven't have to tear into one of these transmissions. My trans oil is full, looks like bright colored blood, but doesn't smell like a wet back crossing the border in the middle of summer. I don't know where else to look about fixing the problem. I would apriciate any help ya'll might have.
If it worked fine before I would suspect a solenoid sticking in the accumulator valve body. But I am not a transmission expert either. I would check for codes. Even though the CEL may be off there still may be an issue.
My father is a diesel mechanic and has a pro link handheld for the truck but last time I used it we couldn't find any codes relating to the transmission. Anyone have experience with this type of reader and know how to find what is needed?
