as I am accelerating the speedo moves right along and as soon as it gets to 40, it stops but the truck get up to speed, and the tach is working fine. As for the overdrive I haven't checked.
The truck run's great and shifts fine. No issues except this.
the abs light was on but that went away when i replaced the sensor
I know you already replaced the ABS on the diff. but you might want to pull it again and inspect it for little metal pieces or replace it again w one from the DEALER. I bought one from NAPA that was bad after just a few days.
The other sensors that are located ON the trans are the INPUT and OUTPUT speed sensors. Seems no one has here ever had a reason to replace these.
I 'll replace mine soon just because I figure 10 years, 168k miles I've HAD to replace the ABS sensor, the ICP sensor, the EBP sensor and tube, and the cam position sensor, Hpop orings, shocks, and the all boots, things wear out.
the wired thing is the speedo wasnt working at all until you got to 40mph, and then it stopped working once it hit 40.when I replaced the abs sensor, the speedo worked fine until it hit 40 and then it is stuck.
I will take your advise ad take it out and check it.
the speed sensor on top of the trans, would that cause it not to work over 40mph? I read some where that that sensor also helps with the shift points, and my truck shifts just fine
I wish I could be of more help with the info but I dont have that much knowledge. I've looked for info on these but not much i can find. I'm sure some one here ( Ford trans Tech guy ?) will add/correct soon. There are a lot of really knowledgable people here.
IIRC there was a tsb out about "erratic, inop, sticking" speedo.needles.
I think the graphic on the cluster would start to come loose and stop,(interfere) needle movement.
But I don't remeber what years it was for.
Any chance something like that is happening?
If you "tap" on the cluster face at 40 mph, will the needle move on?
Here's another straw, whats the odometer doing all this time? Is it mechanical or electric? try punching the reset button a couple times while its on 40.
