ok took out he rear sensor (vss) made sure it was ok (it is brand new), checked the harness and took her for a drive. Still the same thing. Truck runs great, but will not move past 40 on the speedo.?????
when i bought the first one for my truck at a local parts house it was a bit different than the OE that came out of it. Round metal cylinder base instead of the plastic with three concave sides. Then I had trouble again, My speedo would jerk or not work at all and the brake pedal would just feel wierd, I went to FORD for an OE replacement, worked perfect, ended my problems.
one thing i forgot to mention, i had 315/75/16 tires on the truck before this started happening. I changed the tires to 285/75/16's and i noticed this happening.
I am at a loss as to why the speedo wont go over 40 mph
The truck does run fine, but it does seem to down shift a little hard
When I was turning wrench for a GM dealership. When a problem came in like no speed, no tack or an erratic needle or a gauge that didn't work correctly. After troubleshooting, I found that the problem ended up being in the cluster and needed to be replaced or removed and sent in for repair. Just my 2 cents.
