FRx Mod...

I have been reading and searching for this for a while.. and keep getting close, but everywhere I look it doesn't answer my question exactly.

Does Clay's (RiffRaff) FRx mod get rid of the air that gets into the fuel lines?? I am about to purchase it and was wanting to make sure that I am doing the right thing.. I am trying to get my truck ready for a DP-Tuner and a few other mods.

Thanks

This is what I can tell you.

Air gets into your line from
1) The mixer in the tank ( the return fuel, with air is put in line withthe fuel pick up)
2) the fittings used from the tank to the pump ( these fittings are designed for presure, not suction)

The intank mod, with either an in tank pump, or removal of the quick connect fittings keeps air from getting into the fuel lines.

The FRX gives air a place to escape in case it does in deed get in the line.

Hope that helps

Thanks Pete... I was in the middle of making an order for some upgrades today and stopped because of the lack of response from this question as this is the main reason for my next purchase.

I just figured everyone was busy getting back to work today and they would finally respond!!!

I would say your best bet would be to get the FRx kit from clay and then a intank kit from someone. (I prefer DI) and then get a nice filter set-up.

I am going duel BF1212's/Carter Lift Pump/ Stock pump/ Dahl 100 2 micron filter..

This is considered overkill by most but I like my filters.

This will ensure your fuel is clean.. minimize air in your lines and then you are ready for a chip, ect..

Also power wash the bottom of the truck real good before you drop the tank! Makes life much cleaner.

Edit: I spose I should answer your question.. haha ..

The FRx equalizes fuel pressure to each rail. The intank minimizes air in your lines.. I would recommend both.

I believe the FrX also "shims" the bowl regulator and keeps preasure around 65psi if IIRC. No cutting any lines either, if that's important to you. Also, a plus side is that you get rid of the pot metal piece that seems to break easy.

Good call Jeff! I forgot about that and the FRx also does get rid of air by sending it back to the tank..

My mistake to the OP.. it's a bit too late for fuel system thinking haha

2 questions with this. (and hopefully Clay from Riffraff sees and can answer too) Is the RiffRaff Frx. Bio compatible? and also does it automatically bump the fuel pressure, or do I need to dial up the regulator to my desired pressure does it have a regulator on it?) I cannot find a spec sheet or install page for the FRx. on his website

I know the answers to this one!!

I was speaking with clay about biofuels at RRE and he said that it was very important to him that all his products use bio compatible lines. So the short answer...Yes, FRx is.

The FRx will bump up the fuel pressure, but it is non-adjustable.

I hope this helps.. any other questions just shout em out!

The FRx is B20 compatible out of the box, and is made with fuel line that is more compatible than stock so you shouldn't have any trouble running even higher percentages than that. If you are worried and need B99 rated give us a call and we could build you one as a special order. The block on the FRx was machined to be "shimmed" for better fuel pressure so there is no adjusting or grinding off heads of screws. It comes with everything you need for a complete install; new o-ring, longer screws and instructions will be up shortly.

Thanks Clay,

I knew U would chime in. I will need the B99 compatible. As I have been making my own fuel for about 7 years now. I have run B100 in my truck for just over 100K. and in my dually for about 30K now. Love it. What will a special or der like that run me? ( I asked for the FRx for christmas so I will need to tell her to ask for the special order one)
