Ok.. It's a cloudy day outside and the wife is gone to the mall to do some shopping, so I decided to get under the hood and clean all of the pipes that go to the I/C and make sure everything was sealed tight. I got all the pipes off without a problem, already got the @$%^@ foil off of the pipe and all I have left to do is clean the I/C. My question is what all do I have to remove to get it out?? I pulled the upper rad supports and tilted it back a little just to see if it would clear, but it doesn't look as though it will.. I know someone out there has got a trick or to for removing this thing..
Camera battery is charging right now but when its finished I will post pics of the squeaky clean pipes and boots.. And also a pic of the turbo wheel to you guys to analyze!!
you might want to drain the rad to help make it lighter to move and also take off the upper rad hose but you can just lean it forward and fanagle the i/c out from behind it. its a tight squeeze and it also helps to have someone hold the rad forward while you pull out the i/c. you can get it out that way though......
You shouldn't have to pull anything but the cross support above the coolers to get it out. You can leave everything in and just pull the I/C.
Yep, that's what I did, and even the 6.0L intercooler (which is bigger) can fit in that space too. Just unbolt the reservoir without disconnecting the hose, move it out of the way, and tilt the radiator forward. The intercooler will slide right out.
Thanks for the quick reply guys... I just got the I/C out and will be cleaning it after this post.. is there anything else that I should do while i'm this deep in here??

Wash out the radiator!Or at least blow it out with air.
There are 4 bolts on each side, and once they're out, it can still be a PITA to get that cross-member out. I had to really work it to get it out. The AC lines are somewhat in the way, but the outlet will clear with a little shifting of the condenser. Other than that, it's all covered. Now would be be an excellent time for an upgraded trans cooler, but it sounds like you won't have time to wait to buy one & have it shipped...
