i have a 01 F-350 diesel . tonight the stearing wont turn, even while moving down the road, and the power breaks take two feet to stop the truck. could it be a fuse or what. im lost and im on deployment with that being my wifes only vehical. any help please. i know the power stearing pump was going. but why the brake thing? help please. im miles and miles away from home. thanks ,mark
They are linked together by the" something " booster next to brake fluid filler. If the power steering res. Dropped to low there could be air in system and I know from first hand experience it causes bad pulsating in brake pedal and bouncing of the wheel. If thats the case it needs to be bled through that something or other booster. My dementia is kicking in and I cant remember for the life of me the name of it. But thats all I can think of it possibly being... Others will chime in..
Please post the general area your wife is in so we can try to find a local member to help out. If you're wife is semi mechanically inclined, we'll walk her through things to check using pictures from our trucks on what to look at.
The power steering and brakes are connected since we have a hydroboost system. First thing we need to know is has she been adding "power steering fluid" to the reservoir? The power steering unit actually requires the use of ATF to function properly. If the wrong fluid has been added, a flush is the first thing needed. That is something she can easily do by herself, or have one of her girlfriends help her.

We've got to start somewhere. If you can describe the symptoms and check what we tell you (we can include pictures) then I'd say yes, you'd be a huge help. If it just needs a flush, then you can do this with no problems at all.
