Today big blue was broken into and the SO@#$@#$@ stole my radio, busted up my dash, then bailed all while I was at work. He busted the latch on the rear slider and crawled in to do the deed. Police pulled some prints off my door and window but I don't expect much. My question....does ANYONE know of a good way to put a back up lock if you will on the rear slider? I am not sure what he did to do it but he snapped that bad boy in half, the other piece is missing, and he just crawled through the hole. I want to make sure the rear slider is a mother you know to get into in the future. Any ideas besides camping in my truck with a 12 gauge?
That sux man! Last year they stole my truck from home by punching the locking cylinder in with a screw driver and breaking the ignition. The *******s cleaned me out, too. now i have a $60 stereo and cheap speakers cuz i am afraid they will get me again. An alarm wont do any good cuz the door light switch doesn't work on either of the doors. Keep on truckin guys and i hope all those thieves rot in hell!!
I agree with Maxium4x4. If someone wants inside any vehicle, all they have to do is break any of the windows with a punch. It doesn't even make very much noise to draw attention, if they use a punch.
The best thing you can do is invest in a decent alarm system.
The system has to be layered, they still will break glass or doors. Deter them with an alarm, set up a No Start by using a simple switch or other items offered by companies. If you want to go full tilt you can be notified by cell phone and actually track your vehicle. Depends on how determined you are and how deep you want to get into a project.
I always like the old time electrified vehicle they used to use on commercial trucks, not sure if anyone even offers this type of product anymore, one touch and you provided the ground....

That would be nice, but it might be a little rough on the computer systems in newer vehicles. Plus, with how messed up our legal system is now, the thief would probably sue you for putting them in danger...

OH yes a good shot of 440V would do wonders. wonder if a cattle fence charger would work. HUmmm!
An alarm is on the horizon for me just not sure which one. For now I need to come up with something on the slider. They didn't break any glass btw ..just the stinking latch that holds the slider. I know if they are deterimined enough they will get in ...i just want something that will give me enough time to catch them in the act or scare them off.
lol 440v...I like that...hmmm what about train horns inside the cab...lol
The only 440v or the horns both sound like good ideas.... The only problem would be when you forget to deactivate them and shock yourself and blow your eardrums out....
