Can you change the factory hubs over to a Warn type hub?
I have switch on dash , so if I had Warn hubs could I lock them in and just use the switch to take it in and out of 4x4?
you sure can Ken. you dont have to leave them locked all the time but yes you can convert to warn's. you will have to plug the vacuum line going to the hub though.....
Like Bill said, you can do that, but all the gears and the front driveshaft will be turning all the time. The switch on the dash only controls the transfer case. Some people do this in the winter so they don't have to get out of the truck every time they come to ice or snow. You may loose a little MPG, but that's about it.
Yes you can and many people do. You will just have to get out lock/un-lock the hub.
Remember to plug the vacuum line (or lines, depending where you disconnect) for the ESOF. There's no point in having your ventilation cycle through defrost for a vacuum leak in the system you won't be using any more...

It's not complicated at all. Hardest part for me was to get the old ones off. I had one that was stubborn (go figure, it was the broken one. ) I think it was about 10 minutes each side. Took me longer to find the right allen wrench from my rollaway for the install. I love my Warn's.
I prefer to get out and lock the hubs, knowing that they are definitely locked. I didn't have that peace of mind with the stock arrangement. I got lucky a couple months back and scored a set of Warn premiums for $100 off Craigslist. Pretty beefy hubs. Can't imagine what it would take to break something on them. Like Chris said, 10 or so minutes per side, depending how long it takes to remove the old hubs. Then, don't forget to plug/remove the vacuum lines.
