no. our trucks have the upper retractor about where your neck would be as youre sitting in the truck. ive never seen it any other way in the dentsides. and as far as my belts, its a hunting truck. basically the belts are to be legal when and if it hits the highway, and to keep me in my seat while im bouncing over bumps and whoops in the trails.
I would like to get some racing harnesses - some decent looking 3-points, not the 6-point pro-mod jobs but so far I can't find anyone that makes them with a shoulder strap that would mount where my shoulder belt retractor is and have lap-belts that are long enough to use with the bench-seat.
Any ideas are appreciated! Thanks bro's! (Or gals )
As far as i know, no one makes direct replacement Race Harnesses.
It can be done with a little fab work.
If your still interested, i can give you the basics of my setup

Yessir, I'm interested! Show me how it's done!
Behemoth, I was getting ready to take pics of my finished interior anyway - I'm gonna snap a shot of my seatbelt system while I'm at it. I didn't know Ford offered two different types of 3-pt setups!
There are two differant types of harnesses. One has the shoulder staps bolt to a roll bar directly behind the seat. The other has a long strap that mounts to the rear pacel shelf in a sedan. In a ute, a support bar is need for either one. The lap belt
Most Harnesses use a quick release hook that attaches to an eyelet bolt mounted to the floor. The lap belt is easy, the bolts go straight into the factory mounts at the bottom of the cab wall and the floor behind the seat. Support bar/ Shoulder strap
For the harness without the strap, add a mounting tab to the bar.
For the ones with the strap, the strap goes over the bar to a new mount point on the floor, center of the seated position. The mounting strap is designed to not drop below 45degrees from horizontal. The support bar solves this problem.
I don't remember the dimentions of the bar but it needs to be high enough to keep the straps "close" to the 45 degrees before going to the floor. It must be strong enough that it won't bend in the event of an accident.
Hopfully this pic will explain it better
The laws here in Australia are fairly tuff so i had to get it right.
How far you go is up to you but it is your safety in the end.
Behemoth, I snapped these pics for ya. Glad I'm really not out of my mind!
f100racing, thanks for posting the pic and explanation! I assume that if you fabricated that support bar (which looks solid by the way ) you ain't running no bench seat, but rather a bucket (or two)?
I'm going to email a few harness companies tomorrow and see what it would take for them to custom make me a set of 3-points with longer lap straps to work with the bench seat and longer shoulder straps so I can still use the factory retractor position in the cab wall.
I may also email Retrobelt and see what their recommendations are since I don't have a factory hanger.
Yeah I didn't know they made that slight little design change either. Hah I wonder if I can use the Retrobelt kit, put the retractor on the floor and just stuff the hanger in the wall behind the plastic cover?

Just realised, i don't have a good photo of the seat. Will get one on Sunday.
Just had the ends built up aswell as the center to make it "hug" a little more.
Still use standard runners and the seat is as far back as it was from factory.
Looking at the pics of yours, here in AUS, the bottom retractor is further back, mounted to the piller.(green box in above pic) Does yours have this mount point? Never seen a set up like that before.
