ok so a few weeks ago i was having trouble with my clutch it didnt want to engage right and since i hadn't changed out the clutch since i bout the truck i figured i would go ahead n swap everything out... i purchased a LUK kit from autozone part number 07-131 ...what i didnt realize is the clutch i purchase didnt work with the flywheel i had so i went ahead and purchased a flywheel from advance autoparts because they were the only ones that could get the solid flywheel the fastest the part number 50-2703. when i got the flywheel home i put it on the floor n tried to align the bolt wholes with the pressure plate the only problem was that only 4 of the bolts aligned and me not knowing any better i went ahead n bolted the thing together and continued with my install... and well not to make the thread any longer the clutch still doesnt engage. And i just had someone tell me that i should be using all 7-8 bolt holes so if this is true what flywheel will work with this luk clutch kit i have?
Well i got the truck back apart and after a few minutes of looking things over I clearly messed up and bolted pressue plate down to the first few wholes i seen i have now lined up all the correct bolt wholes n bolted everything down... now i only have to mess with lining up the output shaft to the engine... If anyone gots a good method let me know lol because for some reason i can never quite get it right ...
The best way to get things lined back up is I hope when you reinstalled the clutch you used the alignment tool that came with the set. Before jacking the transmission up put the tranny in gear (doesn't matter which). Once you get the input shaft started into the clutch hole you can turn the output on the rear back and forth while "wiggling" the tranny in a circular motion. Be patient and it will work.
Don't feel bad all manual tranny installs can be a pain. On a side note I did do a clutch on a kenworth one time and the tranny slipped right up with no adjustments. I told my fellow mechanic "Maybe we need to pull it back and do it again, cause that was just too easy." LOL we didn't of course, just that it went back together too easy.
Clutch alignment tool when you install the pressure plate.
I have a couple long bolts with the heads cut off that thread into the bell housing bolt holes on the sides.
Once you get the bell housing on the bolts a little wiggling and it slides right in place.
well i got it lined up n yes i have also had luck were the first time i try it goes in perfect this time around it took a godd 30 mins but we got it in
