Tailgate Chains

I recently purchased a New Old Stock set of tailgate chains for the late 1950 through 1952 F-1 trucks. The parts include 2 13 link chains, 2 tailgate hooks, and 2 tailgate eye bolts. Since these are NOS I thought I might be able to trade these for a complete used set for the late 50 through 1952 F-1 pickup box. If someone is doing a restoration or a show truck these chains might be what you are looking for. The truck I'm putting these on isn't anything special just a truck so it would be a shame to put such a nice set of chains on this truck hence I'd consider a trade if someone has a decent used set to trade. These items still have the original brown primer on them from the factory and no rust whatsoever. I'm also looking for a rear view mirror for the 48 through 52 F series trucks. If you're interested in a trade send me an e-mail at flatheadjohn@gmail.com

What? Absolutely zero responses! I expect that from one of the "other" boards but not the FTE. Does anyone have a set they be willing to sell outright? Why is finding a set of tailgate chains along with the inside rearview mirror seem to be almost impossible to find used? Right now I can't afford to spent $50 for an inside rearview mirror and over a $100 for a set of tailgate chains. Is anyone willing to help me out here?

My set of tailgate chains is currently being used to hold the oxy acetylene tanks on a hand dolly in the shop Not sure if I have another set? I'll look though.
also not sure if I have an extra mirror either? I just found one recently I planned on using in the 52 F-6 since it didn't have one, and I don't plan on hauling hay with it so figured I could use it there.

I didn't realize the new mirrors were so much, ouch!

I'll look around and let you know.

Thanks Josh, I really appreciate the help. If you remember I bought a set of 49 or 50 Merc taillights for this truck project from you a couple of years ago, they're not on the truck yet but getting close. Hopefully It'll be on the road next year. Anything you can find would be great just let me know.
Thanks, John

John, I have an extra mirror. still not sure about the extra tailgate chains. I need to dig deeper, maybe over the weekend I'll have time to go throught parts and get them better organized.

pm me your email and I could send some pictures of the mirror.

John I just posted a rear view mirror for a 49 F1 on ebay yesterday, Is this the same as you are looking for ? If so, and no one bids prior to you getting back to me I'll pull the ad and give it to you for free - you pay the postage only. just trying to help a brother out.

you can see the mirror on eBay, search item # 170400731519 and you'll find it.

Rick
