What are my fellow F2 , F3 and M68 owners usinig for tailgate chain covers . I bought a set from Carpenter before I realised these trucks have bigger chains than the F1 .
Great ideas! I used car water hose. It is stiffer, but will work. Just another option. FYI...I did purchase some covers from LMC. They did not last a year. I guess this Texas heat and sun was just too much for them.
Were tailgate chain covers original? I don't recall ever seeing anything wrapped on the chains back in the olden days. Maybe they were just deteriorated away before I saw them in the 60's? But I only remember raw chains flopping around. Never gave it a second thought then.
I used protective covers for hydraulic hose . Mine came from John Deere . covers are woven , I wove a wire tie through the top and bottom chain links to hold them in place .
If you like the clear tubing local hardware stores, Home Depot or Lowes sell the clear tygon tubing in different sizes. That's the type of tubing used in fish tanks. Just my 2 Cents worth.
