Question Temp running Hotter than normal???

I've been watching my temp gauge since I came from South LA. to Paragould AR. in north Arkansas. And on the trip it was colder than it was in Louisianna but I noticed the temp gauge about 3/4 when it usually runs half (about to the top little squgilly line on the three on the gauge). Then it went back down. But today riding around town I noticed it again. There has been no puking since the HG EGR replacement. I just wander if it could be a belt, thermastat, or water pump. Has anyone ever had something like this happen and what did it cost to fix? how is a person to tell if the water pump or thermostat is bad since it has a resivour tank an no way to look in the radiator?? THANKS AHEAD FOR ANY INPUT. It's supposed to go to the Shop Thursday. But if I can diagnos it and fix it myself I will. Hopefully it might just be a belt!

One belt to run everything. It's very possibly the water pump. the 03/04 had a problem but don't remember off the top of my head what it was. The temp gauge is basically cold/normal/hot so it doesn't really tell you anything. What kind of coolant is in it and did the oil cooler get changed when the heads were done? The only SURE way to know is get it on a scanner while you are driving. Also, check inbetween the radiators for grass or any kind of debris that may be stoping airflow.

03, 04 water pumps were smaller and prone to failure. Can be upgraded to 05 pump with upgraded timing cover.

I suppose it has the original oil cooler cause I tried to get them to change it but they wouldn't unless I paid for it. At the time didn't have the money, hell now I don't but...
I had the grill off a few months ago to do the ZOODAD and everything looked fine. Oh yeah all factory stuff coolant

I take it you are out of warranty, bummer! How long since headgaskets? If recently that should have been caught. Change EGR cooler at same time if it has one and install a coolant filter no matter what.

Yea it was 10/06/08 when the heads were done. And they checked the oil cooler and said it was good. The luck of having it happen when the 12mth 12,000 was out stinks.

Does anyone know of pictures of a disected oil cooler on here? I haven't seen any but there will be some soon. I told the dealer I wanted the old cooler they looked at me funny but gave it up. I plan on cutting it into 4 parts with pics.
