Temp running Hotter than normal???

Ok well after driving around 100 miles. Here's the outcome on the initial drive the day I got it out of the shop it did the same thing. Well I wrote that off as I only had a few miles and the coolant had to get circulated. Well after 95 more miles and the guage not moving it's back to the same thing only more often. On a 21 mile round trip to get beer for the games it has done it three times. UP & DOWN AGAIN AND AGAIN. What gives????Needless to say it's going back tomorrow morning. Also while I was sitting at a store I revved it up to 1500rpm and held it there and it would fluctuate up to 1750 without me doing anything. ANY IDEAS??
