For those with Verizon Wireless...

So I currently have iPhone on at&t and I am going to be switching to Verizon Wireless when they come out with the Android line. My question for those with smart-phones is how is the 3G speeds?

Also for those in rural areas how is your service, 3G service and speeds? And if you don't mind me asking how much does your smartphone data plan cost after all of the taxes and fees? Thanks for the help.

I'm not sure if it's the same network, but out here in the geographical center of nowhere the wireless broadband internet is decent. Their coverage is pretty good overall, I've never had a complaint about coverage or service, it's substantially better than the Sprint service I had before.

i am in a rural area but I don't use the 3G, service is better than any other provider, everyone I know (almost) is on verizon! the only thing I can tell you is watch the bill, every month there is something wrong. normally it is a $1.99 charge for something we didn't use some times it is up above $10.00! so every month I call and dispute it and they remove it and it is the usual "oops that wasn't supposed to be on your bill"
I think they have figured that if they add a buck or two to every bill and no one catches it the will make an extra million or 2 every month (my opinion)

wireless and whatnot out here in bfe is pretty decent can't complain too much cause its better than nothing. if i remember correctly its $30.00 a month for unlimited use of the data network. a little less than that for just e-mail. or they have a plan where they charge you by the kilobyte

I believe all the smartphones require an addition 30 buck a month data plan in addition to the regular voice plan.

We had Unicel which was bought out by Verizon and so far, no complaints about service. Far better coverage than Unicel ever had plus we don't have to deal with the "idjits" that worked in the local Unicel store. Verizon replaced those employees so kudos to Verizon

My wife uses a Blackberry and I have just a plain phone and she loves the service, but not the phone.

We like the Friends & Family deal because it sure saves us on minutes used.

Verizon has the best network nationally, hands down...and this comes from someone employed by a competitor.

I'll tell you, AT&T has a faster network, there's no getting around it. The iPhone is also much, much better at managing connections than the last generation of Blackberries, including the Storm (which I'm using right now).

Verizon suffers from handset envy, because they are the only network still running CDMA. That's why you don't see unlocked iPhones on Verizon's network...the hardware doesn't support the radio protocol.

If you want a reliable phone service, with good support when/if you do have to call, I'd go ahead and suggest Verizon.
