My 4x4 has not been locking in on my 2001 F150 SC. I have got it down to a bad shift fork in the front diff and am going to move the axle tube to get a look to see if it is broken.
I cannot seem to remove the vacuum switch however. The C clip came off, but the switch itself is stuck in the bracket. I have poured the penetrating oil to it, but no luck. Has anyone had any luck removing these things?
bet you anything its the vacum motor that is bad, also i don't know of any tricks i did swap mine out as it was corroded away inside you can tell as soon as you get it out if you shake it the thing will rattle. just mess with it and you will get it out. also when you buy a new one to save you a boat load of money buy one off ebay. good luck
Thanks for the reply. I have good vacuum to the switch and when I disconnected the linkage, the vacuum switch moves freely when 4X4 is switched on. So I figure its the fork...just hoping to get the swictch off without breaking it. With the price of the fork I'd hate to have to pay up for a new vacuum switch. Will check ebay out for the part though.
