climate control vacuum line

1999 150 5.4 4x4 w/ac
chipmonk chewed thru 2 vacuum lines near the battery, spliced them back together and the inside has now defaulted to the defrost position only....
checked all lines inside and checked the actuater that controls the defroster position and the panel position....
it works and changes if i suck on the line.....removed the selecter switch and have no vacuum at the switch.....then started looking for the "main" vacuum line that comes from the engine compartment and cannot seem to find it... i do see a small black line that comes al the way from the selecter switch back the the actuater hose harness and then runs to the passenger side and seems to go thru the plastic ductwork... where does this line go??
is the "main"vacuum line that feeds the panel(selecter switch)?

the blend? door i think is on the passenger side and that has a white hose going to the back side of an actuater, and when i move the door it moves freely...

i have checked to see if the 2 vacuum resiviors will hold vacuum and they do...

can anyone tell me where the main vacuum line is coming from?
i have half the dash torn out and really hate to go any further until i can find this line and verify that there is vacuum going to the switch

what ever happened to the old 70" dashes where i could at least get my hand up in there without using a dang mirror...

your help is much appricated....i have to walk away from it right now because has be so p.o.

There is a vacuum line that runs through the firewall in the area of the battery. It has a check valve in it in the engine compartment and it may be bad. Good luck!

From what I can make out in my photo the highlighted line is the vacuum source. It probably goes into the wiring harness loom to pass through the firewall. That's the way it did on my '95. I'd go out and look but it's pouring down rain.

the vacuum line is only about 3/16 inch diameter. starts somewhere on backhalf of motor in center. goes toward the glove box. Tee at the firewall infront of glove box. there is a check valve there as mentioned. one line goes thru the firewall to the control ****. other goes toward the passenger side fender and behind teh battery. there is an accumulator behind the battery. leask normally at the accumulator, or at the firewall connection or check valve.

thanks for the help....
i finally found the line that runs thru the firewall...couldn't find it on ladder and could'nt see it fomr a standing position,so i layed across motor/ grill the best i could and finally found it....chipmonk had eaten the line all the way to the rubber grommet...
everything is back in place and working.....
the only thing that bothers me is that there is one line after a "t"...i plugged that one off....i did find a vacuum line plug in the battery tray the first time i removed it and thought it was a little odd for it to be laying in there...
some of the line was missing when this all started..

thanks again
