I'd love to know how you installed that tach. I've got a motor getting ready to transplant into my 79 F150 and I'm going to need a setup like that. Love the sound of that motor by the way. I'm hoping to have something similar.
The tach install was pretty simple. The truck originally had dealer installed air but someone was kind enough to go to the trouble of removing it for me before I got the truck so I had a useless vent where the tach is now. All I did was remove the cluster trim, take out the vent, open the hole up for the tach (it JUST fits), and then I took a small strip of metal and made a bracket to hold the tach against the cluster facia. It should work on any truck from 73-79, it's just a little easier when the vent hole is there but it wouldn't be hard to cut the hole in the trim for one that didn't have A/C.
(Note: I should probably do a tech write-up/install on my tach. I've had alot of people ask about it.)
That video doesn't do justice to the exhaust note from my truck. You should here it in person. I'm running Borla Pro-XS mufflers. I highly recommend getting a set. They're fairly tame until you get on the gas then they really come alive. They would sound awsome on that sweet 390 you're building!
Next time I'm in your area, I'll send you a ping first and maybe I could hear it for myself. Currently I'm using Flowmaster mufflers on a 2" exhaust with long tube headers and I enjoyed the sound. But that was when I was using the stock motor. Now with this buildup I have it may sound a bit better; I hope!
Last week I put the Taylor 409 wires on it and I love them. Today, the water pump and clutch kit came in so I am very close to finishing it off. I'm going to replace the steering pump and alt before I get her cranked up though. Thanks for the compliments. I should have pics this weekend of the near final assembly
Again, I love that bronco and she sounds very sweet. If you do a tech article please let me know. What type of tach is that?
Wayne, I am in Durham and would like to come by and see your projects some time. I have to run to Apex every now and again and have other truck buds in Raleigh. I would love to stop by and talk trucks.
Sounds good. I'll be around this Sat and Monday. Sat, I'll be at Boyettes putting the waterpump and clutch on. I should be home mid afternoon putting the bellhousing on the tranny and prepping for the motor to come in. My guess is that the motor will go in Mid June.
Anyway, feel free to send me an email and I'll shoot you my phone number and we can get together.

This is great!!! a bunch of NC boys. I just found this site recently and really enjoy reading about trucks. I live between Knightdale and Clayton, but my address is Raleigh. Go figure! I have a 98 F-150 kingcab lariat 4x4 with flowmasters, K&N system and 295.75.16's on baha rims, no lift but I love my truck.
I'm in Four Oaks, NC, near where I-40 crosses I-95. I've got a 69 F-100 with a 351c that I'm in the process of fixing up. Also got a couple of Mustangs, and my wife has a new Escape. Everything in the driveway is a Ford. heh!
