these is what the tags say. for what i can make out of what they say.
tranferscase
D296 31345 21

front diff
3.54 E6TA - JC
610264 - 2
i know the real is a 10.25 full floter with 3.55 gears and i have a c6 tranny.
btw i know the transfer case calls for mercon fluid but all i can find is the dexIII/mercon fluid. will that be safe to use??
The transfer case should be an NP208 if it is stock. The front axle could either be a Dana 44 (likely) or a Dana 50. An easy way to tell is if the hubs taper down (Dana 44), or it they say relaitvely the same diameter.
Your front end is a 44HD by the Dana BOM, 3.54 gears, open differential.
The transfer case should be a BW 1345 in that truck, not the 208, but a 208 is entirely possible as it is a direct swap though.
If it's a 1345 it will look like so:
i believe the front hubs look all the same diameter the hole way down, i ll have to check. idk come to think of it they might have a slight cone shape, i cant remember off hand.

ATF is the called for lube for all post 80 transfer cases, they're really not too particular about which spec it is though.
As for the 1345, Ford started using it in '80, it's most prevelant in Broncos and high GVWR F250's/F350's though. A 6.9 or 460 is a pretty good indicator of the presence of a 1345. But, like I said, a fixed rear output 208 is a direct bolt in swap.
