Coolant Leak

I have an 87 F150 w/ a 302 V8. The coolant is leaking profusely from this housing thing up at the motor. I am a decent mechanic and I want to fix it myself but I don't even know what to call the thing. It has 2 large air hoses going into it and a small water hose at the base. Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks, Geoff

The thermostat housing in on top. Below that is the water pump with the fan attached to it. There is a coolant line that goes directly between the two. I hope that helps. I wish I had a picture. If you need it I can post an image from the Haynes manual that shows the front of the engine and labels every part.

Thank you, if you don't mind posting the image that would be great. My manual stinks and I don't have the Haynes.

im thinking you are talking about the throttlebody. if those air hoses you are talking about go over to the aircleaner box then that is it.

If you dont want to fix it back to how it is supposed to be you can simply bypass it.

I wouldn't bypass that little hose. Just get a new one. I think its 5/16 hose. From everything I have read, your truck will run better with that hooked up.
