292 Rocker Assembly P/N
I rebuilt the entire engine (except for the rocker assemblies) and I can't seem to keep the valves adjusted properly. I'll get them perfect and then about 5 miles later they start clickin and clackin again. It's making the engine run kinda rough.
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks
The first thing you should do is to ensure that it is the adjusting screw that is causing the problem. An easy way to do this is to keep track of the number of threads that are visible above the rocker each time they are adjusted. If the visible number of threads decrease, it indicates that something is wearing prematurely. It could be the cam, lifters, pushrods, rocker shaft, or rocker arms. If all of the rockers are doing this then the screws probably are worn out, but it does not hurt to make sure before spending money on it.
I do advise that you completely disassemble, clean, and inspect the shaft assemblies. They tend to be all gunked up inside which can prevent adequate oil flow to the rocker arms. It is more than likely time to replace the shaft, and possibly the rocker arms.
When you take them apart, be sure to keep everything in the same order in which it was removed. When you put it back together, make sure that the oil holes are in the proper orientation.

B4AZ6563AX .. Rebuilt Rocker Arm Assy / Does not come with pushrods / Obsolete
Fits: 1954/64 239/256/272/292/312.
Since this is a Ford part number that reflects a rebuilt part (what the X refers to), dealers usually didn't inventory rebuilt parts.
None are listed on the Ford dealer parts locator system, or the obsolete parts vendors website, but this doesn't mean that no one has any...there's prolly dozens still around.
Call Green Sales in Cincinnati OH @ 800-543-4959 (513-731-3304)...they might have some.
NAPA & independent autoparts stores also sold these, but not under the Ford rebuilders part number.

Take the time to inspect your assemblies. Buying new rocker arms is a waste of money if it turns out that all you need is new screws. Other worn out components could cause your new rockers to wear unfavorably.
I believe new screws are available with jam nuts. If not, a set of used jam nut adjusters should be easy to find. Assuming nothing else is wrong, that will fix your problem.
