Duplicolor spray on truck bed liner over rust encapsulator. Good for 3 -4 years, subsequent applications require only light pressure wash for prep. No spray gun, flexible finish holds up pretty well. Of course as soon as my ship comes in, it'll be a frame off, media blast, weld repairs, customization, epoxy and line-x deal.....
I'm stripping my frame down, the rust is worst under the body so I've pulled that off and am taking all the brackets and wiring/piping loose so I can have someone come in and blast it. I've used it for commercial plowing since it was new so it's out in the thick of things quite a bit. I've never had a spreader on this truck but it's still rusted pretty bad. Looks like POR15 is the way to go. Thanks
i painted my frame with POR-15 about 2 1/2 years ago. although it has faded rust has not come through and it still looks good. Best decision i have made. I live in PA where the salt takes one hell of a toll on vehicles
just sprayed rust oleum rust reformer i think its new ,, says converts rust to a paintable surface we'll see lol gonna top off with VHT chasis paint it holds up good
I was wondering about Duracoat - the stuff they use for custom finishes on guns. It comes in a variety of colors and sizes, and it is supposed to be pretty tough...Expensive though. http://www.duracoat-firearm-finishes.com/

Reason: Error in product ref. name
I have gotten away from the grinder and rustolium because it turned into a every year process.
I now sandblast, POR15 and topcoat with tractor paint. It WORKS. The 1st one I did like this is a plow truck from 5 years ago. It still looks like the day I spayed it

Looks great Brad. So it still looks like that after 5 years.
I have used Por 15 on my hot rod. It is holding up good, but it never sees snow.
I have been playing with JD tractor paints. Valspar products.
So far so good. I also try to keep things covered with Fluid Film.
We spend far to much time fighting rust, don't we.
When we built my 97 i wire wheeled my frame, i would not suggest this. It was a pain in the ***, then you have to use chemicals to clean everything, it worked good but i more than likely will have mine back to the bare frame some point in its life to do it how we did the 84.
on my 97, we had the underside and inner bedsides blasted and i coated with por 15 and topcoat and it turned out awesome,
The 84 we stripped then sandblasted it and the cab floor boards and underside. also the same treatment on the core supports of both trucks,
We use por 15 merely off of brads suggestions and what he uses, although we uses por's topcaot instead of what he uses.
por 15 loves sandblasted surfaces. might as well do it if you have it that far tore down.
Big Green, That looks awesome. I wish I had time, money and space to do a restoration like that.
Diesel Brad, it seems like you've found the magic combo. Some day I will try this....

I'm planning on using POR15 on mine when pull the bed off. But I have a question about the sand blasting, since I've never done it before.
Do you need to strip it down to the frame and remove all the fuel and brake lines?
