I have a 78 F250 that I was going to sell (until a spark plug broke off in the left head ) .. I am now going to part it out . I need help identifying the axles (no tags ) , any help would be appreciated, thanks ....
Do you have any pics of the axles. The F250 will have a Dana 60 out back, and probably have a Dana 44 up front.
The dana 44 will have ball joints and not king pins.
Quick set of pics will make it easy to identify.
Just gotta ask about parting a truck due to a busted spark plug. Thats kind of like throwing the baby out with the bath water isnt it?
Spark plug removal seems to be a much easier solution to scrapping out an entire truck.
You can fix the head by removing the plug?
Its not in very good shape . Tires are new , L F door Is new , Other than that it would have been a truck to leave at the cabin to plow the drive , I'll get some pics ...The motor ran great till it fouled a plug from idling to long . I have 4 of these , this one was purchased for a back up plow truck , until I bought my power stroke . BTW, It has ball joints
Nice enough old truck. That is a dana 44 front, it is a high pinion with open knuckles and disc brakes. It is an 3/4 ton version that sports 8 lugs.
The rear is a run of the mill dana 60. It is a full floater with 30 spline axles and drum brakes.
That should cover it. You will have to remove the diff covers to verify the ratio.
