Good call on the chip. That could very well be the culprit. Doesn't cost anything to find out. I had problems with the junk Edge programmer I used to use for guages and took it off. Troubles vanished, so did the Edge !
Make sure you check under the dash and under the hood for blown fuses. Did it sputter and die or was it like someone just shut the key off?
My truck blew fuses and stranded me twice. First was a 30 amp under the hood. Second was last night it was a 30 under the dash.
First time I unplugged the fuel bowl heater and replaced the fuse and it was good.
Second time I replaced the fuse twice to make sure I wasn't going crazy and putting in bad fuses. Turns out I had a short in the wiring for the then unplugged fuel bowl heater.
A good friend called last night to tell me that field mice had gotten into the wiring harness on his Ford Explorer. It's that time of year. Wouldn't hurt to check all the wiring you can see. Also chaffed or worn wiring could be shorting out somewhere.
jim my truck died on the road changed the glow plug reley now my glow plug light stays on and the injector drive relay keeps keeps clicking in the fuse box but it wont light please help 2002 7.3 Thank You Russ
Welcome to FTE wulfyrw. It's best you start your own thread for your issues so we know which questions everyone in answering. A bad glow plug relay will not make your truck stall, so we'll need as much info as possible in the new thread to figure out where to go next.
Still won't start! New CPS, new IPR, unplugged the ICP , found oil dripping from it left it unplugged and still cranks but won't start. No smoke at all from the exhaust so I am sure it is a fuel problem.Other then having it scanned for codes, I have tried everything recommended to me and still no results. Whats next??
I'm giving you a bump to get this at the top of the pile. I'm one of the least knowledgeable resources here but there will be some help coming from "those who know". Hang in there we can figure it out with this bunch of FTE folks.

I'm sort of experiencing similar problems and my truck is in the shop.
Did you remember to disconnect the fuel bowl heater element?
Pull the DTC's to give you an idea of where to really start looking.
So the chip has been removed and you've checked all fuses with a meter? HPOP reservoir still full? If you turn the key on and open the drain valve, do you get a good stream of fuel out the tube? Any changes in how any dash lights are acting? Have you stuck a meter on the batteries while cranking? (Can't assume having it on a charger is enough).
Can you give a better description of how the truck stalled? Like the key was shut off, or a sputtering / coughing.
No smoke while cranking means the injectors are not firing. That means it's either fuel, oil, or electrical related.
IDM? unbolt that baby and give it a shake, hear water? if so it is bad. (IDM in located on the driverside fender under the hood spring). (3each 8mm bolts and a 10mm wire harness bolt IIRC)
