Was heading to work this morning and there were emergency vehicles in the middle of the intersection at 1 of the major intersections here in Wylie. It happened in front of the local "very large" high school. Wylie is a suburb of Dallas with 38K residents and that is the only high school.
Involved was some late model altima or kia but the other vehicle was an early 90's F150 extended cab long bed in really great shape. The front end and left front fender of the truck were demolished.
You can imagine what the Kia or Altima looked like.
Hopefully no one was hurt seriously.
Seeing the damage - one or both were doing running at a decent rate of speed when they "apparently" ran the red. This intersection does have a history of wrecks. If I'm the first vehicle at an intersection at a red and it turns green I ALWAYS look before proceeding. Thanks to my Dad for that one. Who knows if that pearl of wisdom would have prevented this accident.
The truck was west bound and was stopped about 50' from the intersection/accident. The little car was in the middle of the intersection.
Without closer forensics (read rubber necker traffic jam) it's difficult to tell what happened without arm chair speculation.
Here's hoping for the occupants good health and for the truck's existence.

Yes. It does break my heart to see a nice older F150 crashed. Especially knowing that most crashes occur because someone goofed.
I was especially heart broken to see several older F150's on the rear lots of local dealerships during the Cash for Clunkers program.
In my area I saw four 92-96 F150's that appeared in to be in good condition.
The bright side is that hopefully we will see an increase in parts availibilty at the local boneyards.

I really want a Bronco but up here they're all rusted out, so that is sad to see one get wrecked.....as far as the pick-ups.....the less of those on the road the more more cheap parts in the scrap yard!!!

I don't know any more than whats on that site a friend linked me. But there are some really bad ones they showed. Was in a Jy once and found a Ranger Pickup with a pole imprint in the front(like 2nd photo), perfict fit right in middle and the engine was in the cab floor! Abunch of lipstick on air bag too, at least they had seat belts on as the belts showed streching!

When I see one wrecked I look to see what I might be able to use off of it to ask the owner about. Interior color is high on the list.
I used to LOVE to go to junkyards to do some "shopping". Once a guy with me asked the question, "How many people you think died in these". That kinda took the wind out of my sails. So I'm not the junkyard hound I once was.

I don't really get teary eyed, but I do get a little bothered by it. It sucks to see it. I feel the same way if I see a fox body Mustang that has been wrecked or even a 80s or 90 C***y, or really any other older or classic vehicle that was cool. This is especially true if the car/truck was in excellent shape before hand. I guess its because they don't make them anymore and they are slowly dissappearing. Personally, I would rather have a 95 Silverado than an brand new Ford. I just do not like the new vehicles at all.
