I had Ford take care of this problem when I had it on my 2001 Edge. They replaced all the bulbs, and lightened my wallet by 250.

The bulbs are expensive...I usually will pull a bunch when out in the junkyards. its real easy when others have pulled apart the dash already. Then test them at home.

Its time consuming with a lot of steps..not really hard, just takes time. 250 for lightbulbs? Not for me!

Ford also replaced the lights in the steering wheel cruise control buttons. That was back when my time was worth alot more than it is now.

I replaced them in my 98 Ranger when I was down to one working bulb. After all was said and done, it wasn't too bad a job. It took me about one hour (+/-). I had to remove the radio, the trim around the steering wheel and the plastic and metal knee panel under the dash. I had to remove the entire gauge cluster but didn't have to disconnect any of the wires. I just let it rest on the steering wheel. (The speed-o-meter is electronic, no cable) I replaced all of the bulbs while I had it apart. The dash light bulbs are a little bigger than the idiot lights. I got them all at the local Car-Quest Store.
