I saw them last night while trying to figure out why my 2001 X cruise light would never come on nor did the cruise control work. I saw the saturated mess all over the wiring harnesses under the master cylinder and couldn't figure out exactly how it got there. I called my local dealer and they had me come in ASAP and about an hour later my cruise control worked (with light) and no more worries about the fire issue.
^^^^^^ Good for you. ^^^^^^^

I don't know how I missed this recall in general... Thinking I'll be stopping by the dealership on the way home from class today and verify it's been done on mine since I bought it used. I'm assuming they can run the VIN to verify or something.

You should have them run the OASIS report if you don't already have it, all open recalls will show, IIRC. No charge in most cases.

Thanks Mark. Carbon just hit me up and offered to run it for me, we'll see what's comes back! Knowing my luck as of late, not a damn thing was done to it

Thanks for this post! I called my local ford dealer and my suggestion is give them your VIN # and they can tell you any recalls or service done on YOUR particular vehicle.Mine was not in the recall and had no history of recall service.

Nope, you're good on the cruise fix! No BBQ for you. Let me know if its ok with you and I'll post the word doc here or you can pm me your email and I'll send it. BTW, the cam sensor was done too.

I was gonna tell you not to do that because if they haven't done the CPS recall and you're fortunate enough to still have the original black sensor, you don't want them taking it. But according to Carbon, they've already snagged it from the truck, so never mind.

Dammit I didn't even think of that... Time to start scouring junkyards. Which will be pointless since this is Texas and diesels are F'ing EVERYWHERE

The way I found out that I needed to do the recall fix was by going to the Ford web site and clicking on the safety recall link under ownership on the bottom of the page. My wife called the next day to the local dealership and they said to get it in by 11. There was no charge and they changed the sensor that goes into the master cylinder and added a short wiring harness the has a fusable link in it. The original system had no fuse to pop to cut power if (more like when) the switch shorted from the brake fluid leaking all over it.
