I need to replace the muffler on my 6.8L F250 and am not sure what way to go. I want a good sound and not wanting to spend alot of money I dont want to spen 300 for a mufler oand tail pipe. Any sugestions on what you all have done thank you
i just ordered a cherrybomb extreme muffler and it only cost me like 65 bucks. I havent put it on yet but if you search bladleys f250 you should find his post and he has videos of what it sounds like, in my opinion I think that its sounds better than anything else iv heard and iv done a lot of searching for v10s and what they sound like and for 65 bucks you cant beat it. I"ll will be posting videos of what it sounds like as soon as i get it on, it should be coming in as soon as this tuesday so be on the look out.
HaHaHa.....Didnt know I had started a fab.....Maybe next weekend Ill try to get some more video up of my exhaust(dont have my video camera with me right now), since I have never done that.
i still say a baffle style muffler sounds the best on any V10 when it's set up right. a good 3" inlet and dual large exit, leaves a good deep tone, and less of a ricer sound.
This weekend I installed a Flowmaster 70 Big Block II on my Ex. I cut off the factory muffler flush on both ends and the muffler fit right into place. My neighbor welded it for me. Took a grinder and cut off the hangers from the factory hangers and reused those as well. For an added touch, I put a 3.5" x 12" polished stainless tip on it.
Sounds great, too. No drone inside the SUV. Deep & mellow, and barely noticeable to my wife, who is VERY picky about noisy exhausts. I installed my Volant CAI at the same time and there was a modest improvement in throttle response overall.
The only thing I would have changed would be to use the Center Inlet model rather than the offset inlet. This would have allowed me to used a straight pipe from the cat instead of the really short S-bent pipe with a pinch in it. Being yours is an F-250 you might have more room to work with between the cat and the muffler.
I used FM muffler #53073 & should have used 53072. The tip was FM tip #15363
Muffler - $113, free shipping to lower 48
Tip - $38, free shipping to lower 48
Installation - 2 hours of time and a $13 12-pack for the neighbor
Total - $164 + shipping to Alaska (we don't get the free shipping)
Thanks for all the good in put. I have heard some V10 with exhaust work done and it is imbarising how bad they sound. Now like a few of you have i need to find a buddy with a welder.
