I'll be doing this soon and want to know if I need to support the engine after removing the trans. Will it sit fairly level or will it tip back and allow the turbo to contact the firewall?
It will sit in there fine. You might want to just glance at the up-pipes and make sure they are not hitting anything. I don't think they will unless you lower the tranny down while attached to the motor and then it will pinch the up-pipes/turbo.
mine has been out several of times. it wont sit level but will sit fine, no need to support, while trans is out check uppipes for leaks.
A little peice of advice, DO NOT pull trans and transfer case together, that makes for a heavy SOB, i would pull it one at a time.
Thanks Kenny. Up pipes WILL be replaces with the trans out, already have the bellowed pipes sitting on the shelf. T case will be removed first also, no need to wrestle with more weight than needed.

Nope... LOL. I just had an adapter plate for my floor jack. It worked fantastic, didn't even need to strap it down. I wouldn't of believed it either if I hadn't done it. LOL
but every truck is different.
to the op: You might want to pull the transfer case before, then stick it on after the tranny is out and see how it balances. If you don't like it just pull out the 6 bolts and stick it in after the tranny... I just hate to wrestle that Tcase. It can be a pain, I have had mine out a few times and my buddies a few times as well. It gets tiring holding that thing up there and getting the splines to line up.
