What I'm Getting...

I am expecting a delivery from LMC on Friday that includes

Molding Clip Set-Belt Molding
Cab Back Belt Molding Set
Dome Lamp Lens
Rubber Floor Mat - Black
Insulation Material - 3x6 Roll
Sunvisor Anchor Pin

It's for my birthday. Guess my gf digs my truck.

The sad part is that I have changed my mind about the two tone paint job and am going to paint the truck back the original color (one color with the vinyl stripe), so I won't be needing the cab back belt molding set.

As far as I know, the Explorers didn't come with it. Has anyone had to return anything to LMC?

I am eager to get that carpet out and get the rubber mat down.

SWEET!, nothing like new do-dads for the truck! Congrats on going to the original color, I love original!

Sounds like the GF is a keeper!!

Everything I got from LMC was all good, and I didn't need to return anything, but I am sure they would take care of you.

Yeah, I can't wait to see the truck in metallic blue (original color). I polished the truck with rubbing compound, then wax, and you can see some blue metallic coming through the black. I guess the truck must have been painted black in the 80s. It's not a good paint job, nor a thick one. I'm betting that if I take a little more time with the rubbing compound, I can get that black layer right off there to see more of the original metallic blue. Just a thought. Knowing my luck, after I spend all the time with that rubbing compound, the prison will call me and tell me that it's time to paint my truck.

My truck is an Explorer and it came with the back cab moulding.

You will never know the original color unless you decode the warranty plate or order a Marti report!

What does your warranty plate say under COLOR?

Both of youse, if the truck had originally cab-back molding, then it was two-toned originally, upper accent paint. Most likely white. If you're lucky, it may had vinyl on the back/roof originally. This is the only way an Explorer could be two-toned. Bodyside/race track paint was not available with the Explorer.

No, the truck never had cab molding. I was to add it before I knew my truck was mostly original.

I am having a local vinyl shop print/cut/apply the vinyl strip.

I have the original warranty plate. It was metallic blue.

What is the code, then? I don't recall paint named 'metallic blue'. I've never seen paint of that shade on your truck, either.

I was thinking that it is bright dark blue poly and that bright dark blue poly is a blue metallic. I can see a metallic blue coming through the black when I polish the truck. I believe the blue to be the original color.

Isn't S the paint code?

Feel free to decode any info there if you want. Thanks.

My stuff for my truck should be coming in today according to LMC's tracking. Woohoo!

Wonder if I should keep the original carpet stored in my shop in case I ever decide to go back to the original carpet? It's blah. I hate carpet.

That is the ownercard, not a warranty plate. It is to be used in conjunction with the warranty plate for warranty work only. I do see some familiar codes besides the VIN, but they are not labeled.

The warranty plate can be found on the driver's door below the striker. It's the same size as the metal strap on the ownercard only this has a black border.

The carpet doesn't appear to be original. Only the XLT and Lariat had cowl/kick carpeting. I'm not sure if the bench seat and door panels are correct - they usually have stripes/plaid inserts.

Let's see the goodies installed soon, hopefully.

My LMC box was sitting at my door step when I got in. I put the dome lamp lens on as soon as I opened the box.

Everything is in the box. It's a matter of getting everything on the truck.

My cousin got the cab trim. He's going to put it on his supercab.

I checked the color code on the warranty plate on the door. The code is S.

S = Bright Dark Blue Metallic.

The truck must have been repainted before in a different blue color - the original wasn't that dark as it is now. The interior is the better example of the original paint. I have a '78 F250 Lariat and a '79 F250 Custom with that paint code, and it's different - look in my gallery if you're curious. Additionally, there isn't any moulding at all, and no Explorer strips to boot. That's kinda weird. I was looking something else up, and discovered the 78/79 Explorers had more interior options, plaids/stripes or solid schemes unlike previous years. It would appear you have a chamois interior with chain-mail vinyl bench. Probably original. But carpeting really don't look original.

Have you ordered a Marti report for it yet? That will answer all your questions...and more.

My truck is so dark because it was painted black. In a previous post, I mentioned that the truck was originally blue and that someone painted black over the blue. The blue is now showing through since I've been working with rubbing compound.

I agree, the truck is too dark. That's because it was painted black over the blue.

I ordered the 999 report from Ford.

My truck didn't come with trim. I have the bill of sale. No trim. I am having the explorer stripes made after I have the truck painted the Bright Dark Blue Metallic. The shop said to wait 30 days after the truck is painted before putting the explorer stripes on the truck.

Oh, that would explain it. I didn't catch it the first time around. That would explain the stripes being missing also.

The "999" report from Ford is the same as a Marti report...Ford threw out all their records from the '60s to the '80s in the dump. Marti heard about it and grabbed everything. If someone wants a "999" report, who does Ford go to? Marti. But getting one from Ford is free, the Marti isn't. But you get much more info from a Marti report than a "999" one.

One thing at a time. I'm just curious what this 999 report says, and I will go on from there. I have all the original paperwork so I have a real good idea about the options that were on the truck originally. I am kind of making a file on my truck and the 999 will supplement what I already have.

Regarding carpet: I first thought it was not original, but then realized all of the following match each other:
headliner, seat, seat belts, seat belt fabric, sun visors, and door panels. They almost look orangish instead of tan. If they did not all match, I would assume one didn't belong.

I'm pulling the carpet out regardless because it just don't like it. Don't really know how I would store it, so it will probably be tossed out.
