I say paint it whatever color you like. Mine came in some kind of blue from the factory and then got painted over in a more sparkley kind of blue, I'm guessin that happened 5-8 years ago based on the fading and cheap paint.
I really wanna strip mine down to bare metal with some solvents and elbow grease. Then repaint it in the blue of my choosing.
I love blue. Ford blue. Through and though. Maybe some pearl mixed in too if I'm feeling froggy.
As far as I know, the Explorers didn't come with it. Has anyone had to return anything to LMC?
I am eager to get that carpet out and get the rubber mat down.
Sounds like me! I just ordered a few items from Jeff's Bronco Graveyard. I ordered new rear inner wheelhouses and I've decided I no longer want to install those so I'll have to send them back as soon as I get them. I also ordered a new dome light lens. Few other things like plastic glove box liner, bolts, all new weather strips and seals. I'm going to get a new rubber floor as well but I have not ordered that yet.
Well, the mat I wanted is just that, a mat. Guess my carpet will stay as the mat does not go under or behind the seat. I guess the mat is to protect my carpet. I will have to relocate my bright/dimmer switch in order to use the mat. Guess this will be good to know for those who have been eyeballing the LMC floor mat.
Being that the mat is a MAT and not a full rubber carpet, I didn't need to the insulation. Guess I'll have to find a place for safe keeping in case I need it later.
@ Blown 331: How much for the rear inner wheelhouses? Wouldn't that be the rubber around the wheels under the bed of the truck? I may be interested if you could give me a shipping estimate to 70815.
@ berry1234: You have a Ranger XLT. I have an Explorer. Many folks say that my interior is not appropriate for the Explorer though, but judging by your pic, my interior isn't the same as an XLT either. Maybe mine's a hybrid. LOL.
Add to my list of goodies a rubber mat for the bed of the truck and a sliding back glass. I hit the junkyard over the weekend and found some good stuff in the cash for clunkers section.
The sliding back glass only set me back $24.99.
It has a nice chrome strip inside just like my other glass had (but is 10 years newer than my old back glass.) I really like the chrome strip because it makes the slider look like it belongs.
SWEET!!, nothing like getting a bunch of new do-dads to dress up your truck! I am going to be doing this with a my truck here over the next month, getting the parts all to gether and then a have at it weekend.
I was able to get my hands on an aluminum period correct rear slider, for $10, I just had to drive an hour one way to get it. Going to put it on my explorer here real soon. The guy said he took it off of a 78 explorer. Kind a funny its going back on an explorer.
I got one of those bed mats on my list too!! Everything looks good on your truck, and I think it will look great going back to the original color and stripes too!! Explorers rule!!
I went on ebay an got the paint chart for my 74. You might want to see if it is there for your truck an see what it says also a brochure might tell you as well on the original color an the Vin #
I've got a few more goodies since my last post, but haven't posted pics. I got a new windshield with a tinted strip across the front and I got a new dash pad. I put the dash pad in last weekend and the windshield a few weeks ago. The dash is still apart because I haven't put my cluster back in plus we are going to try to get that old radio to work. Hopes not too high on that, but it would be nice if it would work. The radio really goes with the look I'm trying to do. Without further ado, pic:

In person, the color that looks tan in the pics is actually this orange looking tan color. I'm guessing that is what they are calling saddle. When I googled 78 Ford Saddle, I found some Ford vehicles with the saddle color. Jeff's Bronco Graveyard has saddle carpet for sale. I don't know what the determining factor was for Ford to put this orange-tan color in my truck, but it's there.
