ok guys here is one for you. have a 2008 F450 6.4. rescue. unit has run fine for the last 6 month a week ago it would not start. could hear a click when you turned the key but no cranking. and the batteries are fully charged. waited a while tried it again started no problem, drove about a mile shut off with out warning. took to local dealer, they said it was a ground problem, and they ran a new one. we picked it up put it back in service, went to start it click click. finally got it started made just out of the drive dead in the water..towed back to dealer. dealer has not been able to fix.. please tell me someone as an answer...
My guess would be that there is a bad sensor, possibly in the exhaust. Sounds like the sensor might be tripping a safety in the PCM causing it to shut down. I have heard of guys having similar problems when a sensor goes bad but it's really hard to say for sure which one it might be. Good Luck.
I had a similar problem on a 92 corvette. Turn the key on everything in the car would work except no start or turn over. Mine didn't do the click thing, but it was baffeling to me. I towed it in and it turned out to be the body control module, also known as the central control module. I don't know if its that, just an idea. Yours really sounds more like a starter, loose connection or bad wire.
just an update for everyone. ford called yesterday and said they are waiting for a control board for the instrument cluster.. sounds like a shot in the dark to me..
