Well ran into a bit of an issue the other. Decided my project out (77 F150 400 C6 4X2) and just run it around town since it had sat for awhile. Well to get to the point, started fine and all that good stuff but when I went to pull it into the garage.....click. I'm just getting a loud click, first thing I did was check the battery, it was fine. I had a brand new solenoid on the shelf so I put it on but worked to no avail. Next obvious thing would be starter, although it never showed any signs of getting weak. Just thought I would run it past you guys before I go about cramming my arms trying to get the starter out.
I had this happen to me this summer with my 95 F150 and I had done what you did check the battery checked the solenoid....The thing I had missed was the Ground wire it had worked loose. So I tightened the ground the walla it was starting again. On my 95 the ground is located underneath the manifold. To check this out have someone pull on the ground wire as you try to start it. Well good luck with it.
Check your battery cables, sometimes they will deteriorate inside the vinyl covering and it won't be obvious. I've had that happen before. Also, make sure the cables, including the ground strap are clean and connected tight,
