Why do people SUCK?!?!!

This past Sunday my truck was broken into. They got my 8 gig ipod touch w/case, and a $200 digital camera. What I DONT understand is that they left my $1400 auto scanner, my social security card, keys, a knife, a flash light, a container of loose change, and a case of CD's?!?!! Im guessing it was kids in the neighborhood that had nothing better to do with 4 minutes of their sorry lives. I have an idea who did it, but no way to prove it, AND thier parents believe their kids can do no wrong. What is wrong with PEOPLE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Sorry, but I just had to vent, and I figured some of you guys can relate.

Man, that really sucks. "Fortunately" for me, when I was a kid in this neighborhood, I was so friggin' evil... well, lets just say that I left the keys in the ignition of my limited edition motorcycle for a week, and it didn't move.

Find a way to whoop their butts without any proof.... and be brutal about it. Nothing like a good ****-stomp to teach someone a lesson.

Ipod and camera are easily pawned or sold for cash almost anywhere any crack head knows that where they in plain sight? Usually the things on the seats or laying out get grabbed and things under seats or in compartments get left behind especially if it is a kid that is nervous and in a rush.

Wagion is right. Kids are usually just grabbing for opportunity. Nothing planned. They get what is fast and go. BUT...If you haven't already climbed all over the inside of your truck, and if it is worth it to you. You can always have prints pulled from the interior and if theirs show up inside, then you have them. Unless there is a reason you had let them in there in the past.

Beating these kids to within an inch of their lives, however satisfying, is ultimately counterproductive due to jailtime etc

find a way to prove it and prosecute them. If these kids don't get caught early, they will be mugging and murdering in no time.

You will be doing the community a service (and as a bonus you don't have to do any hard time)

Do these kids drive a car or truck?

If you're sure they did it put a little sugar in their gas tank. That will fix their wagon. Just be sure to wear gloves so you don't leave any prints...

Did I just say that out loud?

was the truck unlocked? broken window or pryed lock? for me i have had things stolen because i left the door unlocked. although not right i figure it was both of our faults the theif just pointed it out to me. the reason they left what they did was most likely because they didnt know what it was. get on apple website and repot the ipod stolen and use the serial. might be able to catch them or make the ipod unusable. either way it would be the best for piece of mind. might if you have the time put some nice item in the dash where they are highly visable and stake out the truck... cant whoop the kids butt..... now if they are a unknown burgular in texas you can break 6 appendages to protect your personal property or home.

You have some pretty valuable stuff in your truck. That might be part of the problem.

A social security card?!?!?!?!? What the hell are you thinking???

I'll admit I don't have SD but the last kid (15 years old) who tried to break into my truck about two years ago I caught in the act long story short he ran I chased, grabbed and slammed him head long into a Excursion's brush guard he's knocked out I had a security camera on my side so he's in jail as we speak. I strongly recommend that you get prints pulled show no mercy to these punks and don't give them a chance to get away or they will be back maybe not your truck but another vehicle or even your house.

just for fun if you see these kids that you think did it near where you park, you could leave your windows down and wait close by with a bat, gun, tazer...whatever you think will do the trick. leave a case of beer on the roof of your truck for bait!! it's like fishing! don't forget to have duct tape ready for when you catch them!

The fact that kids do stuff like that is a fact of nature and I have nothing against teaching them a few hard lessons but at the same time you are asking for it when you leave things showing. Also, drug addicts do things they wouldn't do if they never got into drugs so don't feed the insanity by giving opportunities.

well it could ahve been worse, nothing destroyed and "stuff" is easy to replace. sorry for your aggravation though!

we don't lock our houses, trucks, or camps much in this part of vermont, but the kids did break in if you can call it that when they are unlocked.

over the weekend the kids went into all the cars in the duplex apartment house down in the next town and moved everything from the first car to the second car and so on, so everyone's "stuff" was one car over!

annoying to everyone to move their stuff back around but pretty harmless.
