I have a 2006 F350 that had an issue this morning. When I got in the truck and turned the key on the panel said check engine temperature. The gauge was pegged in the red and my outlook monitor said 300°. This cannot be possible for the truck had been sitting in 70° weather for over 12 hours. I started it and ran it for about 5 minutes, running very weak with fan clutch engaged the entire time. After 5 minutes the temperature immediately came down to the normal 200° and ran fine all the way to work (30miles). It did the same thing when I got in it at lunch. The truck is not running hot but somehow the computer says it is. Does anyone have any suggestions. I would rather not start changing sensors, part, etc. without hearing some suggestions.
