Engine stumbling when hot PLEASE HELP!!!!
I noticed that as the outdoor temperature has been getting warmer throughout the summer my 95' 5.8 liter E4OD has been acting up when it gets to operating temperature. The CEL came on after the truck started stumbling from a stop and if I stopped the engine and restarted it a few minutes later it would catch then immediately die- i would turn the key off and retry and it starts, barely runs, and hiccups and stumbles and I have to feather the gas to get it to smooth out. I took it to a mechanic that does free scans, I can't remember what the code number was but I do know he said it was a lean left bank. He told me it was a vacuum leak and since then I have replaced the throttle body gasket, the intake plenum gasket, the IAC gasket and I have sprayed every vacuum hose I can find with carb cleaner. I am at my wits end and I'm really thinking it has something to do with temperature even though it is not giving any fault codes for sensors. It looks to me as if I only have one Oxygen sensor in the crossover pipe so I'm not sure how the computer is seeing a left bank? If I remove the battery cable and let the codes clear it runs awesome until it gets warm then it starts all over again. It seems to really be effected by the ambient temperature, this morning it was 65 and the bronco ran fantastic but this afternoon it was 85-90 and it started running like crap again. ANy insight would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks!!
Drew
